The Aztecs, also known as Aztecs or Aztecas, are the largest group of Indians in Mexico. The center is in Tenoche, Mexico, so it is also called Mexican or Tenoche people. It is mainly found in Veracruz, Morelos, Guerrero and other states. It belongs to the American branch of the Mongolian race. The Nahuatl language is used.
The Aztecs, who first inhabited the islands of western Mexico, began moving in the 11th century. In 1325, led by their leader, Tenochtitlan, they founded the city of Tenochtitlan (modern Mexico City) on two islands in Lake Tescoco.
